About Zen Zone Renovations

We’re known for making renovations feel less overwhelming and more human.

We’re known for making renovations feel less overwhelming and more human.

Clients often tell us they feel grounded working with us because we communicate clearly, keep things moving, and don’t sugarcoat the truth.

We show up respectfully. We think ahead. We hold your vision with care and we’re not afraid to speak up when something’s off.

Yes, we build beautiful kitchens, bathrooms, offices and wellness spaces.

But more than that, we build with intention and respect for our clients so the process feels as good as the result.

Because how your space is built matters.

And so does how you feel while it’s happening.

Chop Wood, Carry Water

My first meditation book was Chop Wood, Carry Water and now, that’s quite literally my work: chopping wood and making water flow.

I started young, holding tools for my dad as he built decks, installed bay windows, and transformed our home with his hands. Years later, I brought that same spirit into large-scale renovation and construction management at retreat centers across the country, applying my engineering background to real-world building in spiritually grounded environments such as the Buddhist temple in the photo above.

With a Master’s in Chemical Engineering from WPI and UC Berkeley, I learned how to lead complex teams and projects with structure, systems thinking, and care. That experience now shapes the way we work at Zen Zone Renovations with clear communication, high-quality execution, and deep respect for the people we serve and the spaces we create.

Before returning to Brooklyn, I spent years immersed in yoga, meditation, and personal development, including training in Nonviolent Communication and teaching yoga at international retreat centers. Those practices shaped how I listen, speak, and lead. They continue to inform how we show up on job sites, in client meetings, and with our team.

Eventually, I came back to Brooklyn with a mission to bring peace, presence, and honest human connection to an industry that often feels chaotic and extractive.

This is my business. It is also our spiritual practice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question 01

Is the consultation really free?

Yes, completely. No obligation and no sales pitch. We come to your space, get a feel for the project, and give you an honest picture of what's involved before anything is signed or committed to.

Question 02

How long does it take to receive my estimate?

After your in-home consultation, you'll typically receive a clear, itemized proposal within a few business days. We take the time to make it accurate and thorough — no vague ballpark numbers.

Question 03

What neighborhoods do you serve?

We serve Brooklyn & Manhattan — Park Slope, Williamsburg, DUMBO, Crown Heights, Bed-Stuy, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Greenpoint, Sunset Park, Bay Ridge, Brooklyn Heights, the Upper West Side, the Upper East Side, Midtown, Chelsea, the West Village, Tribeca, SoHo, and beyond. Not sure if we cover your area? Just ask.

Question 04

What types of projects do you take on?

Kitchens, bathrooms, full apartment and duplex renovations, custom millwork and built-ins, home offices, and wellness spaces. If it's in your home and you want it done right, we're interested.

Question 05

Do you work in co-ops and condos?

Yes — and we're very experienced with what that involves. Board approval processes, alteration agreements, insurance documentation, restricted work hours, and building management coordination are all things we handle for you. We assist with alteration applications and the board approval process, including plan submissions, contractor insurance documentation, and coordination with building management.

Question 06

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Zen Zone Renovations is fully licensed and insured in New York City.

NYC GC Lic #GC-626951 · DCA Lic #2126068-DCWP · EPA Lead Safe Certified #R-I-75920-23-00575

Question 07

Do you handle permits?

Yes. We will help you acquire any required permits.

Question 08

How do you communicate during a project?

You'll have a dedicated project manager as your single point of contact from start to finish. Clients consistently tell us our communication is what sets us apart — we keep you informed, we respond promptly, and we never leave you guessing.

Question 09

How far in advance should I reach out?

We recommend connecting at least 2–3 months before your ideal start date. Design development, material selections, and building approvals all need lead time. The earlier we talk, the smoother everything runs.

Question 10

What makes Zen Zone different from other contractors?

The experience. We manage everything under one roof, communicate clearly throughout, and bring calm and intention to every project. One of the best things a client ever said to us: "When you walk into my house, everything just feels good." That's what we're building toward, every time.

Question 11

Do co-op or condo boards need to approve a full renovation?

Yes. Most buildings require plan submissions, contractor insurance documentation, and formal board approval before construction begins. We provide support during the entire submission process.
